Wirreanda, (meaning 'Place of Tall Trees') was built in
the late 1950's by my parents David and Sheila Gordon.
The property was originally run by my grandfather Douglas Peel Gordon, and later as a partnership by his sons, my father David, and his brother Doug. They ran sheep and cattle together, on several properties until the 1980's.
When David and Sheila married, they built this house, 'Wirreanda', whilst Doug and Elizabeth lived at the Homestead - Murrayvale - later moving to Tungali.
My husband Dave and I run the property now, and we see this as a family place - something we have been entrusted to look after and do our best by. Somewhere that family and friends are always welcome - although that's not to say they won't be put to work!!!
As a small property of 365 acres, we are too small to make a living from only growing sheep, so are looking at whatever innovative things we can do to remain sustainable.
